YPI Youth Pickleball Leagues at Side Out Tsunami

The YPI Youth Pickleball Leagues at SideOut Tsunami are designed to introduce kids ages 8–12 to pickleball in a fun, structured, and supportive environment. Governed by the Youth Pickleball Initiative (YPI) and hosted at SideOut Tsunami, this league focuses on skill development, confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship — all while keeping the game fun and engaging.

League Structure

Each season runs for 8 weeks and includes:

• Two weekday practices per week

  • Practices will be Tuesdays and Wednesdays 6:00-7:00pm

  • Each practice is 50 minutes of active instruction, scheduled within a one-hour court reservation to allow for smooth transitions.

    
    

• One weekend round robin tournament each week

  • Game Day: Saturdays 3-5pm

  • A 2-hour session designed for scrimmages, game play, and match experience in a relaxed, age-appropriate format.

This structure provides consistent instruction during the week and a fun “game day” experience on the weekend.

What Kids Will Learn

Players will be grouped by age and skill level and guided through a progressive curriculum that covers:

• Pickleball fundamentals (serving, rallying, court positioning)

• Basic rules and scoring

• Doubles play and communication

• Sportsmanship and teamwork

• Confidence and positive on-court behavior

The league emphasizes development over winning, ensuring all players stay active, engaged, and supported.
